How it started
I’m Fiona – mum to two whirlwinds (aged four and two), keeper of a very opinionated German Shepherd called Odin (and whom inspired our Logo above), and the sole human behind every print that leaves Mawdle3D.
The whole thing started with a old 3D printer in our home office: my eldest wanted a toy rocket, my husband showed me how to load a spool of PLA, and I was hooked before the first layer finished. One printer turned into several, the office became a workshop, and friends kept asking, “Can you make one of those for me?”
An Etsy shop was the obvious next step—partly to fund the growing filament habit, partly so I had an excuse to keep tinkering with new designs..
I print what I’d happily hand to my own children (and what they can’t wait to nick from my desk): fidget creatures that actually survive being fidgeted with, bathroom bits that won’t rust, display models that look good on a shelf instead of in a drawer. Every item is printed, cleaned up, and packed by me – often late at night once the little ones are asleep and Odin’s finally stopped supervising.
No glossy “hand-crafted artisan” waffle here – just practical, well-made prints from a family home that’s permanently covered in plastic shavings and odd socks. If that sounds like your sort of thing, welcome aboard..
